One of the most effective ways we get to know each other as fellow Christians is by sharing together in small, home study/sharing groups. Through such sharing, Christians are enabled not only to grow in their friendships with both fellow church members and visitors, but they also develop clearer understandings of what they believe and greater insights as they listen to others respond to Biblical texts.

An Introduction to
The Apostle Paul

To grasp the enormity and significance of the life of the Apostle Paul is probably impossible for anyone living today. At the very least, it is an enormous challenge. No other person in the Bible, aside from Jesus Christ, had a more profound influence on the New Testament world than Paul. Tough, tenacious and fiercely relentless in his determination, Paul pursued his mission with unwavering resolve. He has been called a man of true grit.

And yet, he was also a man of true grace. Paul, who called himself the least of all the saints and the chief of all sinners, understood and explained grace better than any of his contemporaries. God's grace – God's unmerited love – reached down to Paul in all his self-righteous zeal, crushed his pride, softened his heart and transformed this once violent antagonist into a powerful spokesman for Christ.

We know more about Paul than we do about any other followers of our Lord. It is necessary to begin our look at the life of Paul (first known as Saul) and try to understand something of his religious background if we are to comprehend anything of the significance of the Apostle he later became.
